Thompsons Solicitors is proud to support Sling the Mesh, a campaign increasing public awareness of mesh implant surgery and the potential damage it has caused to hundreds of people across the UK.

Launched in 2015 by journalist Kath Sansom following her own painful experience, Sling the Mesh provides support and advice for those who have been left in excruciating pain after being fitted with mesh implants used to treat prolapse and incontinence. They are especially commonly-used for women after childbirth.

Sling the Mesh is urging the government to launch a full investigation into the implants, as well as the surgeons and manufacturers who did not inform patients of the potential harm that they can cause. The campaign is also calling for a national register to be created to ensure those who have been fitted with the implants receive regular check-ups, and that the NHS contacts everyone who has had the implants and advise them on what to do if they are suffering symptoms.
