The Royal British Legion offers a variety of lifelong advice and support to ex-Service personnel from the British Army, the Royal Navy, the RAF, veterans, reservists and their loved ones.

The services it offers include:

  • free advice on finances
  • free advice on housing and social support
  • free advice on independent living and employability
  • help with well-being and physical injury.

For more information about the support available, visit www.britishlegion.org.uk.

Financial compensation can also be made available through the Royal British Legion for personnel who develop illnesses or injuries as a result of their career.

In 1989 a small group of British solicitors, including ex-Thompsons Solicitors Partner Andy McDonald MP, established the Royal British Legion Solicitors’ Group. With the aim of providing ex-military personnel with legal support following injuries in training or combat, it has a passion to represent members of the Armed Forces, and their relatives.

Fighting for the rights of military personnel in the Gulf War, Iraq, Bosnia and Afghanistan, the Group has also played a key role in providing evidence for the recent (insert the date here?) House of Commons enquiry into the care of personnel during training.

Thompsons Solicitors’ military injury claims specialists are proud members of the Solicitors’ Group. As part of a team awarded the ‘Legal Services Team of the Year’ at the Claims Innovation Awards 2016, they have proved their experience in the sector and their successful track record in securing military injury compensation for members of the Armed Forces.
