In a major victory for trade union rights, the Supreme Court has ruled that the right of unions to collective bargaining must be meaningful and that bargaining procedures cannot be by-passed, even on a single occasion. 

The legal victory comes after a six-year battle by Thompsons and Unite the Union to defend trade union rights.
