Laura a serious injuries specialist at Thompsons' Nottingham office, and is also a senior supervisor of the serious injuries team.
Her specialism is in catastrophic and life changing injury cases. She specialises in claims for clients who have suffered catastrophic and life changing injuries, whether from a road traffic accident or, accident at work, including construction site accidents or assaults. Her case experience includes brain injuries, amputations and spinal cord injuries.
Laura always takes time to build a strong relationship with a client and their family, which often begins whilst they are still in hospital. While the end result sought for her clients is the maximum possible compensation, Laura always considers what immediate funding may be available for ongoing rehabilitation and support so that they can achieve the best recovery possible in the shortest possible time. Interim payments sought by Laura may include access to therapies and/or the involvement of a case manager, with a view to establishing a care or support package, which will be kept under constant review to ensure that it continues to meet the client’s changing needs.
Laura appreciates the stance that Thompsons as a firm takes of only acting for the injured, never those who cause injury or insure those that do and their strong relationship with the trade union movement. She takes particular pride in seeing her cases through from start to finish, which can take a number of years. The end goal for Laura is ensuring that the final compensation package gives her client the maximum flexibility and long term support. Laura is a member of Headway, the brain injury association, and of the West Midlands Brain Injury Forum. She is also a member of the steering group that organised an artwork exhibition created by people with brain injuries.
Laura has been recognised by the Legal 500 as an “up and coming” solicitor.
Away from work, Laura is an accomplished musician, as principal oboist with the Bardi Symphony Orchestra in Leicester, as well as various other ensembles, drawing on her music performance degree from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. She also trains and races with South Derbyshire Road Runners.
